The 'next-gen update' for Fallout 4 has been postponed to 2024
"Thank you for your patience as we continue working on the Fallout 4 next-gen update," the statement read. "We share your excitement for the update and are equally eager for its release! However, we require additional time and are looking forward to a thrilling return to the Commonwealth in 2024."
Bethesda announced last year that Fallout 4 would receive a free upgrade for the current generation in 2023. This update is expected to encompass "performance mode features for high frame rates, quality features for 4K resolution gameplay, bug fixes, and additional bonus Creation Club content."
When questioned about its progress in August, Pete Hines, the former head of publishing at Bethesda (now retired), mentioned the company's focus on Starfield, set to be released in September following a few delays. "Dunno if you heard but we are shipping a new game in 3 weeks. Bit of a priority. When we have an update, we will share it," he stated.
Fallout made its debut in 1997, and the most recent installment in the series was 2018's online multiplayer title, Fallout 76, with Season 15, "The Big Score," launching recently. Fallout 4, released in 2015, is the latest mainline series entry and remains the best-selling one, shipping 12 million copies worldwide on launch day alone, as reported by its publisher.
