Blizzard has officially announced the highly anticipated return of the Winter Wonderland event to Overwatch 2, set to kick off on Tuesday, December 19, and run until Tuesday, January 9, 2024. For Overwatch enthusiasts, this event is a yearly highlight, bringing back limited-time modes and offering the chance to acquire stunning new skins for their collections.
As in previous years, Winter Wonderland 2023 will reintroduce limited-time Arcade game modes, featuring favorites like Mei's Snowball Offensive, Yeti Hunt, and Freeze-Flash Elimination. Some of these modes come with associated Overwatch 2 achievements, making it a must for players aiming to unlock them. Participation in the Winter Wonderland event not only contributes to leveling up the Season 8 Battle Pass but also aids in progressing through the newly introduced Winter Fair Event Pass.
What exactly is the Overwatch 2 Winter Fair Event Pass? It's a fresh addition to the Winter Wonderland celebrations in Overwatch 2. Players can earn tickets while playing Overwatch 2, which can be used at the Winter Fair to unlock various rewards. Tickets are earned for every nine games played, with wins counting double. The free track of the Winter Fair Event Pass offers players the chance to unlock a free legendary skin. Choices include the Formalwear skin for Baptiste, the Formalwear skin for Cassidy, or the Winter Jammies Illari skin. Those willing to spend 500 Overwatch Coins can upgrade to the Premium track, unlocking more tickets and skins, such as the Legendary Wrapping Paper Reinhardt and Legendary Kerrigan Widowmaker skins.
While the Winter Wonderland event concludes on January 9, Overwatch 2 players have until January 16 to spend their hard-earned tickets. Unspent tickets will be converted into Overwatch Credits, ensuring that forgetful players won't be left empty-handed.
The Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland 2023 will feature beloved game modes like Mei's Snowball Offensive, Yeti Hunt, and Freeze-Flash Elimination. Additionally, the in-game shop will showcase new items each week, with Formalwear Legendary skins for Damage heroes Tracer and Sojourn, as well as the Nutcracker Pharah, Festive Kiriko, and Jingle Belle Mercy skins. While premium skins may come with a price tag, the free track of the Winter Fair Event Pass allows Overwatch 2 players to grab some enticing rewards for free. Furthermore, those who log in at the event's start on December 19 will receive a new player icon as a token of appreciation.
