The analyst predicts that "Switch 2" is more likely to be an evolution rather than a revolution
The new console from Nintendo, replacing the Switch, represents an evolution rather than a revolution in the current hardware design. Dr. Serkan Toto, CEO of the consulting company Kantan Games, expressed confidence that it will be released this year. During consultations, he indicated that the new console could be priced at $400, surpassing the initial Switch price by $100, and games for it might be priced at $70, in line with PS5 and Xbox Series X game prices.
It is expected that the new console will retain its portable functionality. Toto also mentioned that while the console will have some improvements, it will maintain the fundamental features of the current Switch model.
Nintendo's president, Shuntaro Furukawa, refrained from commenting on the company's plans regarding the new console. He announced that Switch sales reached 132.46 million units sold throughout its existence.
Despite outstanding market performance over seven years, Switch hardware sales have notably declined, especially in major markets outside Japan. In the last financial year, Switch sales dropped by 22% compared to the previous year, and if Nintendo achieves its goal of selling 15 million units this year, it will lead to a further 16.5% decrease.
