Mastering Clean Kills in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Season 5
The fifth season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 introduces a new set of challenges for players, including the task of achieving Clean Kills. While this is something players have likely been doing all along, it's easy to overlook, which is why some may not be familiar with the concept. Clean Kills are relatively easy to achieve, similar to Barebones Kills in MW3, but there are ways to make them even easier. Here’s a brief guide on what Clean Kills are and some tips on how to achieve them effortlessly.
What Are Clean Kills in MW3?
A Clean Kill is achieved when you land the final hit on an enemy without taking any damage from them. You don't need to kill them in one shot, but doing so is ideal, especially in regular playlists. Weapons like sniper rifles or hard-hitting guns such as the RPK with MW3's JAK Cataclysm kit are perfect for this, as long as you land the first shot.
Tips for Achieving Clean Kills
- Play on Small Maps: The easiest way to complete kill-related challenges is to play on small maps in the MW3 Hardcore playlist. Weapons are significantly more lethal in this mode, increasing the chances of instant kills. While you'll likely die often, you'll also complete your challenges faster.
- Flanking in Ground War or War Mode: If you prefer not to play Hardcore, try a stealthy flanking approach in Ground War or War Mode. The chaos in these modes often masks your movements, allowing you to secure some sneaky kills without getting hit.
Recommended Class Setup
- Assassin Vest: Helps keep you off the enemy's minimap.
- Covert Sneakers: Reduces noise and improves stealth.
- UAV and Portable Radar: Assists in tracking enemy positions.
- Suppressed Weapons: Silenced weapons paired with the Assassin Vest maximize stealth, preventing your location from appearing on enemy HUDs.
Why Aim for Clean Kills?
Clean Kills are primarily for completing challenges. For example, in Week 1 of Modern Warfare 3 Season 5, players must score five Clean Kills with shotguns. Completing such challenges rewards players with significant XP and progress toward unlocking weapons or conversion kits offered as weekly rewards.
Outside of challenges, there isn't much incentive to focus on Clean Kills. You'll naturally achieve them during gameplay, but unless required to unlock specific camos or other rewards, there's little reason to prioritize them. They mainly add flair to the gameplay experience.
