Activision unveiled a new map for Warzone and confirmed that it can only accommodate 100 players
Developers of the Warzone game from Raven Software shared details about reducing the number of players on the new Urzikstan map. Despite supporting 150 players since its 2020 release, the player count has been reduced by a third on this new map.
The decision was announced in a message published ahead of the map's launch as part of the first Season update of Modern Warfare 3.
Raven Software representatives highlighted their primary focus on crafting an optimal and engaging experience for all players, based on key metrics such as time-to-action, Urzikstan map size, circle timings, contracts, and various gameplay mechanics.
They claim to have found a balance, aiming to offer diverse phases within matches, starting with fair infiltration and looting, leading to healthy mid-game engagements, and culminating in end-game scenarios where the best players emerge victorious.
They also emphasized their commitment to closely monitoring community feedback and internal data, making adjustments as needed.
The new Urzikstan map features 11 major points of interest and borders the Republic of Adal, home to the Al Mazrah map from Warzone released last year with Modern Warfare 2.
According to CharlieIntel, the new Urzikstan map will be 20% smaller than Al Mazrah, although the exact dimensions of Urzikstan have yet to be officially announced.
The upcoming update for the first season of Modern Warfare 3 is scheduled for December 6 across all platforms. It will introduce a wealth of new content across multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone, including new maps, modes, and Zombie storyline elements.
