Overwatch 2 Brings Back Competitive Drives: Unlock Rewards and Prepare for Season 14!
Blizzard Entertainment has brought back Competitive Drives to Overwatch 2! The event runs from November 29 to December 2, offering players the chance to complete exciting challenges and earn exclusive rewards.
What is Overwatch 2?
Overwatch 2 is Blizzard Entertainment’s evolution of its iconic team-based shooter. The game adopted a free-to-play model, shifted PvP gameplay from 6v6 to 5v5, and introduced an updated roster featuring new heroes and maps. As Season 13 draws to a close, Blizzard has reintroduced the fan-favorite three-day event to keep players engaged.
What’s New in Competitive Drives?
The event features the Drive Meter, a system that tracks progress in ranked matches. Winning games fills the meter, while losses only slightly reduce it. The system also includes checkpoints—once players reach a checkpoint, their progress is locked, ensuring a more forgiving and rewarding climb through the ranks.
Event Duration: November 29 to December 2
This season’s Competitive Drives offer the Season 13 Signature, a collectible that highlights player achievements. Returning participants can even upgrade their Signature. Additionally, players teaming up with friends can earn bonus points for group victories. Blizzard warns, however, that competition will be fierce, so players must give their best effort to claim their rewards.
What’s Next for Overwatch 2?
The return of Competitive Drives is one of the final highlights of Season 13. On December 5, Blizzard will release the Season 14 trailer, teasing new content, Battle Pass cosmetics, and possibly a preview of the Winter Wonderland event.
The highly anticipated hero, Hazard, is set to join the roster permanently on December 10. Season 14 will also introduce experimental 6v6 test phases, bringing back both Open Queue and the 2-2-2 role queue formats from the original Overwatch. Moreover, Venture, a hero first introduced in Season 10, will receive a long-awaited cosmetic update based on community feedback.
Despite mixed reviews, Overwatch 2 continues striving to deliver fresh experiences for its players. Whether it’s tackling the challenges of Competitive Drives or eagerly anticipating the new features of Season 14, there’s plenty to keep fans excited in the coming days.
