The game was released on Tuesday, but a few days before that, players with the Premium Edition already had access to it and expressed their concerns about the performance of the Nintendo Switch version.

While the Switch version was never expected to match the graphics capabilities of the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions, performance issues and visual compromises raised questions among some commentators about why Nintendo players were asked to pay $70 for a product that seemingly had lower quality.

In an interview with BBC Newsbeat, Bun stated that the issues with the Switch version would be addressed, promising to release an update.

"We will definitely address the many comments and issues that have arisen," Bun pledged. "It would be perfect for us to release the version we absolutely wanted. But all the problems we identify are already on our list and will be fixed."

The versions of the game for current-generation consoles have been well-received by critics, with scores of 88 (Xbox Series X/S) and 86 (PS5) on Metacritic. Several reviews for the Switch have been published, but most of them are negative.

For instance, the Nintendo Life review, which gave the game a 4/10 rating, points out problems with frame rate, significant resolution drops, control issues, performance drops, lack of content, game-breaking errors in the Invasion mode, long loading times, and unresponsive menus.

In conclusion, it says: "If you're a big Mortal Kombat fan and you only have the Switch version, you might be able to overlook all these issues. However, if you have another option, we recommend abstaining from this version for now."
