Treyarch Reveals Major Update to Skyline Map Ahead of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Launch
As the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 nears, developer Treyarch Studios has announced a significant change to the Skyline multiplayer map, a tweak that could impact the gameplay in some modes. Skyline, a 6v6 map that received praise during the Black Ops 6 beta earlier this year, had some fans feeling that its center area required adjustments.
During the open beta in September, players had a chance to experience Black Ops 6 firsthand. While many were impressed with the new installment, some pointed out areas that needed refinement before the game’s official launch on October 25. Among the feedback, players voiced concerns about the Skyline map’s center area, particularly regarding its openness, which made capturing the B flag challenging.
Big Changes Coming to Skyline Map in Black Ops 6
Following the beta, fans suggested improvements to Skyline, and Treyarch has now revealed the changes. While the map's large glass doors and windows remain intact, a new sub-level has been added next to the hot tub in the center of the map, offering players additional cover when capturing the B flag. This modification, although not directly mentioned by Treyarch in their blog post, was quickly spotted by players on social media.
Although the change has been well-received by some, not all fans are fully satisfied. On Reddit, user Limp-Grapefruit-6251 commented that the update is "better than nothing," but the pool area still feels "way too open." They, like others, suggested replacing some of the glass panes with solid walls. However, other players, such as ProblemGamer18 and Puzzled-Ninja-9934, praised the change, calling it "much needed" and "great."
Skyline is just one of 12 new Core 6v6 maps launching with Black Ops 6, alongside four new Strike maps. Treyarch has emphasized that each of the launch maps has been carefully designed to deliver the classic Black Ops experience, featuring small to medium-sized maps with traditional three-lane routes.
With the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 just around the corner on October 25 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, Activision has confirmed that pre-loading for all platforms will begin on October 21 at 9 AM PT, allowing fans to jump into the action as soon as the game goes live.
